Registro de comportamento de coleta de material para nidificação em Metachirus myosuros (Temminck, 1824) (Didelphimorphia: Didelphidae)

Registros de coleta de material de construção de ninhos carecem de descrições ou são inexistentes para a maioria dos didelfídeos. Descrevemos o uso da cauda neste comportamento em Metachirus myosuros na Mata Atlântica e o comparamos com comportamentos semelhantes relatados para outros didelfídeos. Esse comportamento é similar ao relatado para outras espécies estreitamente relacionadas, provavelmente mantido desde o último ancestral comum de Didelphini e Metachirini (~15 Maa). Entretanto, a escassez de dados sobre outros táxons impede afirmar que esse comportamento já estava presente no início do clado Didelphidae.
