Abstract

The Mammal Collection of the Caatinga Fauna Museum (MFCM) houses around 1000 specimens. The States of Northeastern Brazil, Ceará, Paraíba and Pernambuco were the objects of several incursions conducted by researchers from the Centro de Conservação e Manejo de Fauna da Caatinga (CEMAFAUNA), making them the most representative in number of specimens and species richness in the collection. In this paper, we present a list of rodents deposited in the collection, in addition with new records and geographic distribution data. We listed 469 specimens, representing 16 species and 13 genera of the families Caviidae, Echimyidae, Cricetidae and Muridae. Among these, two species is currently threatened in Brazil and 14 species have their distribution data updated. Based on data available in the literature, the geographic distribution of Holochilus oxe Prado, Knowles & Percequillo, 2021 was extended to Paraíba. Additionally, we found in Pernambuco some areas with higher concentration of collection localities, such as the municipalities of Salgueiro, Floresta and Cabrobó. The present catalog plays an important role in presenting the Caatinga rodent biodiversity, as a primary source for scientific research and conservation.
