Primer informe de albinismo completo en Ozotoceros bezoarticus (Linneaus, 1758) del Pantanal, Brasil

El albinismo es causado por una mutación genética que inhibe la producción de melanina, resultando en la falta de pigmentación en cabello, piel y tejidos. Se encontró un venado albino en Caimán Pantanal. La endogamia y la consanguinidad pueden aumentar el riesgo de albinismo. Es necesario realizar más estudios para determinar si la presencia de venados albinos en este humedal refleja la baja diversidad genética de la población en general.
